Veterans of the Storm Launches First-Ever Suicide Prevention Program for Veterans with Undiagnosed ADHD and Emotional Collapse

Huntsville, AL — Veterans of the Storm (VOTS), a new suicide prevention initiative created by Navy veteran Theresa Alfonzo, is making waves by addressing the silent crisis impacting thousands of veterans across the country: undiagnosed adult ADHD, emotional shutdown, and Operator Syndrome. Unlike traditional PTSD-focused approaches, VOTS tackles the hidden drivers of suicide that go undetected in high-functioning veterans. These include Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD), emotional dysregulation, and neurological collapse often mistaken for depression, bipolar disorder, or substance use. "We’re losing veterans who never even had a chance to be diagnosed correctly," said Alfonzo. "They pass every screening, then fall apart alone. VOTS is designed for them."

The program was built entirely from lived experience, rooted in Alfonzo’s own battles with emotional collapse and the failures of the mental health system. It offers:

• Peer-led daily emotional support

• Nervous system regulation coaching

• Veteran-specific ADHD and Operator Syndrome screening tools

• Trauma-informed coaching and emotional education

Now expanding beyond Alabama:
To reach more veterans nationwide, VOTS is launching a self-sustaining model that includes offering screening services to veterans' families and civilians for $125, with an income-based sliding scale. All profits will fund a national scholarship program that pays for diagnostic services for veterans in underserved states.

"This isn’t just a program—it’s a movement," said Alfonzo. "We’re proving that emotional collapse is preventable when you understand the root cause."
